And God said to the Soul

And God said to the Soul:
I desired you before the world began
I desire you before now
As you desire me.
And where the desires of two come together
There love is perfected.
How the Soul speaks to god
Lord, you are my lover,
My longing,
My flowing stream,
My sun,
And I am your reflection.
How God answers the soul
It is my nature that makes me love you often
For I am love itself.
It is my nature that makes me love you intensely,
For I yearn to be loved from the heart.
It is my eternity that makes me love you long,
For I have no end.
~ Mechthild of Magdeberg

The Eternal Fountain

There is a place inside the heart
Where no one may enter
except the Eternal One.
There lies the treasure
You and I have coveted
throughout time.

We rest at the Eternal Fountain
Drinking and bathing in this Love
This is the pulse of life inside the Soul.
If we stay close without falling into the pit
of deep forgetting...
Freedom will be ours.
Forever and into eternity.

Dear God

By St Francis of Assisi

Dear God, please reveal to us
your sublime
beauty

that is everywhere, everywhere, everywhere,

so that we will never again
feel frightened.

My divine love, my love,
please let us touch
your face.

From Love Poems to God

I WRITE OF THAT JOURNEY
By Mira

I remember how my mother would hold me.
I would look up at her sometimes and see her weep.

I understand now what was happening.
Love so strong a force
it broke the
cage,

and she disappeared from everything
for a blessed
moment.

All actions have evolved
From the taste of flight;
the hope of freedom
moves our cells
and limbs.

Unable to live on the earth, Mira ventured out alone in the sky –
I write of that journey
of becoming as
free as
God.

Don’t forget love;
it will bring all the madness you need
to unfurl yourself across
the universe.

I Would Cease to Be

St Teresa of Avila

God

dissolved

my mind – my separation.

I cannot describe my intimacy with Him.

How dependent is your body’s life on water and food and air?

I said to God, “ I will always be unless you cease to Be,”

And my Beloved replied, “And I

would cease to Be

if you

died.”

Life and Death

Rumi

look at love
how it tangles
with the one fallen in love

look at spirit
how it fuses with earth
giving it new life

why are you so busy
with this or that or good or bad
pay attention to how things blend

why talk about all
the known and the unknown
see how the unknown merges into the known

why think seperately
of this life and the next
when one is born from the last

look at your heart and tongue
one feels but deaf and dumb
the other speaks in words and signs

look at water and fire
earth and wind
enemies and friends all at once

the wolf and the lamb
the lion and the deer
far away yet together

look at the unity of this
spring and winter
manifested in the equinox

you too must mingle my friends
since the earth and the sky
are mingled just for you and me

be like sugarcane
sweet yet silent
don't get mixed up with bitter words

my beloved grows
right out of my own heart
how much more union can there be
{

come on sweetheart
let's adore one another
before there is no more
of you and me

a mirror tells the truth
look at your grim face
brighten up and cast away
your bitter smile

a generous friend
gives life for a friend
let's rise above this
animalistic behavior
and be kind to one another

spite darkens friendships
why not cast away
malice from our heart

once you think of me
dead and gone
you will make up with me
you will miss me
you may even adore me

why be a worshiper of the dead
think of me as a goner
come and make up now

since you will come
and throw kisses
at my tombstone later
why not give them to me now
this is me
that same person

i may talk too much
but my heart is silence
what else can i do
i am condemned to live this life

First Love Story

"The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.

Lovers don't finally meet somewhere,
they're in each other all along." Rumi
